It is Lent Season now...
I really wait for this time of the year, this is my favorite part of the year.
We have processions during the Holy Week and I love watching it.
It is the 40 days preparation until the Easter Sunday. It is like Jesus' 40 days in being at the desert tempted by the devil.
The first day of the Lent season is the Ash Wednesday, we go to the church and hear mass and later we will be lining up to have our foreheads signed with the cross with an ASH. It symbolizes that we came from ash, we will end up as ash. It reminds us to convert ourselves and believe in God.
Also, every Friday, as Catholics, we do not eat pork, meat, chicken, hotdogs or those of any kind. We just eat fish and vegetables. I like it. It is a sort of sacrifice.
For the Holy Week, we start it Sunday before the Easter Sunday or we call it Palm Sunday. It is the time when we gather with palm leaves. When Jesus entered Bethlehm before, he rode on a donkey and people put palm leaves on the street.
Then the week will be silent, not much activities.
Holy Thursday, we attend afternoon mass and it is the day when we eat the last supper (like Jesus did with his apostles)... We eat together with the family. For those of us aging 18 and above, we cannot eat or we call that fasting. That s what we believe. That will be until Easter Sunday. So Easter Sunday we eat breakfast together and celebrate and join activities...
Good Friday, we attend mass in the afternoon and we attend the procession. It is like all saints are being put together who are acquainted to Jesus' life before and contributed to his life. Jesus dies 3pm or so we believe that because it was stated in the Bible. Deep prayer starts.
Black Saturday, we believe this as Christ is in the tomb so no activities... All should be silent and pray.
Easter Sunday. WOW! It is the celebration day! Jesus is being resurrected from the dead and is victorious!
We attend the procession of the Meeting in which Mary, Jesus' mother, meets with him. It starts at 4am and after the procession, the mass begins...
How i hope I am home now so I can attend the celebration again.
I prefer this than Christmas...
